Walking out onto Michigan Avenue, taking in a breath of fresh air, and looking at the masses of people in front of me, I am so excited to work my way down the beautiful avenue. I am walking by couture boutique after boutique, Cartier, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Ferragamo, Sak's, Cole Haan, and Tiffany & Company; just to name a few. This is without even going into WaterTower, an experience in itself. The sidewalks are packed and I am wondering why I didn't wear more comfortable shoes! I had a lot of shopping in front of me in order to hit the town tonight, and I wanted to fit in a lot of stores. The H and M is beautiful, 3 stories high and crazyy full of people. I picked up a bunch of staples and headed to the large Victoria's Secret next door. Oh my gosh! They have the Betsey Johnson collection in Victoria's Secret! I think I am in heaven. I need it. I clean out all my sizes as this is a limited collection. Her signature leopard print and rosebuds adorn all the bras and panties, as well as the slips and robes I grab. I also find the lip plumper. I HIGHLY recommend this. It works! I go to the counter and get going. Only 3 hours till I get picked up for the night. I run into a small boutique off Oak Street, where they specialize in new designers. I run into Sara's, and find a dress and headband that will work perfect for the night. I go to the Signature Room, at the top of the John Hancock Building, the perfect place for a late afternoon martini, and meet up with friends that will be running promotions in the city that night.
8 p.m. - My friend picked me up and we go to Sangria, the best sangria bar in town (hands down). The tapas and the sangria are amazing. Peach and raspberry are my personal favorites. We hang out and watch as the restaurant turns into one of the hottest salsa clubs in the city. I am so glad that the car is parked. Much easier to take cabs in Chicago unless you have a great friend who wants to cart you around all night, which I luckily have. It is right around the corner from Crobar, which has experienced a rebirth since Brad Altman took over the marketing and promotions. Friday nights are hottest, with celebrity hosts and hostesses. Brad's parties are always packed, and tonight is no exception. You can get on his list by emailing him at BApresents@hotmail.com. He keeps thousands informed of the goings on in the city. I met him when I was 18 and living in Chicago.
He became a mentor, friend, and business associate. We hang out in the club, get accosted by shot guys (love this!) and have a blast dancing. Knowing we have a full night ahead of us, I realize that we need to keep moving. Le Passage and Underground are next on my list. Both are owned by nightlife impresario Billy Dec and partners and are hot clubs. Hard to get into, but well worth the wait. I am on the list and go in and dance for 3 hours straight at Le Passage. They have the best dance music! I then hit Underground for a hot minute, it is packed and I am getting tired (3a.m.).
I have had a wonderful night! I still have Saturday night, which I am very excited about. Chicago in the summertime never disappoints! Some hot resources you may want to check out before you go to the windy city are; www.crobar.com, and www.prettycity.com. Get on the email lists, and you will know the hot parties going on. Although, every weekend in Chicago is a great weekend, especially in the summer. Lakeshore Drive is beautiful, and very fun to walk, bike, or blade during the day which includes great eye candy and friendly people. And, don't forget Navy Pier, they have stuff going on all summer.
